Current Writing Mood:

Uncomfortably honest.

Every person is a writer. Every single person has a story to tell. A story to write.
The advice I most resonate with about writing is this: If you're going to write...you have to be willing to do the equivalent of walking down a street naked. You have to be able to show too much of yourself. You have to be just a little more honest than you're comfortable with."

In my writing workshops, I provide a creative and nurturing environment in which you can experiment and essentially get naked to develop your craft.
In fact, that's what I'm doing right now instead of workshops. And you know what? It's uncomfortable but liberating.

During my workshop hiatus, please feel free to reach out to me for recommendations of other great online workshop facilitators. And, of course, you're welcome to contact me about my virtual one-on-one fiction workshops, short story boot camps or manuscript reviews. I also facilitate family reunion storytelling workshops and made-to-measure workshops for specialty groups.

about me

Everyone is, indeed, a writer. I just happened to make a living at it. Starting out as a copywriter at a New York City advertising agency, I eventually reached the role of Executive Creative Director. I've mentored and worked alongside teams of writers and art directors as we created print campaigns, websites, Facebook apps, radio and TV spots and more. These days, when I'm not telecommuting from my private mountain lair far from Gotham, I'm busy opening those veins and bleeding all over my laptop (paraphrasing Hemingway or whomever first constructed that metaphor.)  read more
